RAMS Certification

The RAMS Certification operated by CIIPL is a full Certification Scheme addressing Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) of Signaling Equipment / Components used in Railways.

Certified products are free to use applicable CIIPL Certification Marks under a certification agreement. The certification process involves evaluation of the product conceptualization and designing (When so needed), Manufacturing, Improvement Cycles, Field Trials and post certification activities like periodic factory inspection and evaluation improvement cycles based on field performance.

Manufacturing assessment includes evaluation of Process technologies, quality assurance arrangements, in-process controls, and competency of the client’s technical personnel etc.

Product Testing as per defined standards is generally done at accredited independent laboratories.

The certification mark assumes implementation of the agreed in-process quality checks on a continued basis. This scheme requires follow-up activities including periodic surveillance inspections of the manufacturing facilities and periodic re-evaluation of the product.

This Product Safety Certification to SAFETY RELATED ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS / SYSTEM FOR SIGNALLING for Railways is done on the basis Independent Safety Assessment for Onboard Equipment and Wayside Equipment as per EN Standards:

  • LED Signal Lighting Units for Subsidiary Color Light Signals (Route, Shunt, Calling On and Tunnel Signals) For Railway Signalling
  • Universal Fail-safe Block Interface (UFSBI)
